It is that time of year when motorhome owners need to think about getting their leisure vehicle ready for the cold and wet winter months. So, we thought we would provide you with a number of things to consider in this respect to help ensure that when you do bring your motorhome out of hibernation in the warmer spring weather you aren’t faced with any problems.

Do not leave any water in the motorhome incase it freezes. So make sure that all water systems are fully drained. This includes the taps and heating system.

You need to make sure that you don’t get any mould in your motorhome. So, ensure that things like perishable food are removed from your leisure vehicle. You could also consider investing in an electric dehumidifier. Make sure that none of the bedding or seats are damp.

Clean the interior and exterior of your motorhome thoroughly. Remove sheets and pillowcases and wash, dry and store them for the spring. Make sure cupboards are cleaned inside and out. Leave the fridge door slightly opened making sure obviously that it is switched off.

Make sure that he batteries are kept fully charged.

It is important to consider taking your motorhome out for a drive every 2 weeks or so to keep the mechanical parts ticking over. Just a short trip of 10 miles or so should do the trick. Increase the tyre pressure to the maximum that should help avoid flat spotting.

Some people may be able to afford to store their motorhome at a secure indoor storage facility. However many people will be in this fortunate position so ensure that you have suitable security measure in place if your vehicle is say on the roadside i.e. steering wheel lock.

You may also wish to consider a breathable cover.

Whilst not an exhaustive list, we do hope that the above has been of some assistance.to motorhome owners.
