There are some wonderful places to enjoy a few days break or a longer holiday in North Yorkshire and there will be many a motorhome owner who has taken his or her leisure vehicle to this delightful county. There is some delightful countryside to see such as the North Yorkshire Moors or the Yorkshire Dales in which there are numerous Yorkshire villages to enjoy a drink and a meal in.
Well, if you are the owner of a motorhome who enjoys visiting North Yorkshire, you might like to know about a trial ban that is being introduced in three parts of North Yorkshire banning motorhomes from parking up overnight. The ban commences on the 21st October 2024 and is expected to initially run for 6 months.
The trial ban has been introduced by North Yorkshire Council and the three locations it covers are Cayton Bay, a section of North Bay in Scarborough and an area that is used for parking near Whitby on the A174.
The ban would be from 11pm until 7am. Therefore this will mean that motorhome owners will be unable to park up for the night to get some much needed sleep in the above three locations. It will mean that motorhome owners will have to find somewhere else to rest their weary heads.
There are no doubt a number of campsites that will gladly accept motorhomes onto one or more of their pitches within reasonable distance of any of the above three locations where the ban is to cover. One of the benefits of staying on a campsite is that it is likely to have toilet and shower facilities as well as an area to wash up your pots and pans and perhaps even cook some food. Electrical hookups are often provided. You will need to consider if the cost of staying on a campsite is worth it – if you feel it isn’t then you could try to source a wild camping location.
Apparently, some of the reasons why the trial ban is being put in place are due to reports of anti- social behaviour. Also, in some cases, there is a worry about the fire risk. Perhaps this is because there are going to be some motorhome owners who use disposable barbeques in an unsatisfactory manner.
Presumably, there will be quite a few motorhome owners who are most upset to read this news. After all, the majority of owners of motorhomes are good citizens who make sure that when they leave a place they have been parking up overnight leave no rubbish and have not caused any unruly behaviour.
