There would appear to be quite a bit of interest these days in giving up the traditional lifestyle of residing in a bricks and mortar property for living in the likes of a motorhome. There are probably a number of reasons why someone would make such a decision but below we mention just 4 of them.

Cost of living in a motorhome

It is almost certainly going to cost you less to live on a full time basis in a motorhome in comparison to residing in say a 3 bedroom terraced property here in the UK or elsewhere in Europe for that matter. The purchase price, in the main, is going to be lower to purchase a motorhome than a traditionally built residential property.

The monthly mortgage repayments or rent paid to live in a traditional house is likely to be more than the amount you would pay out to purchase a motorhome also taking into account the pitch fees you may have to pay if you pitched up on a campsite.

The day-to-day upkeep of a motorhome will probably be less than that of maintaining a house. For instance, with a motorhome you will have to pay for heating etc but the cost is likely to be less than for a traditional home. The maintenance costs of a motorhome i.e. servicing is probably going to be lower for a motorhome than a traditional house.

Freedom to move around

Living permanently in a motorhome gives you greater freedom to move around to different parts of the country. You could spend 6 months living in say the Lake District and the next 6 months living on a site in say the Yorkshire Dales. There is less upheaval involved in living a nomadic lifestyle in a motorhome than in a bricks and mortar property.

Cleaning

As a motorhome has a smaller floor space than a traditional house it should take you less time to keep it spick and span. This will give you more time to do the things you enjoy doing.

Meeting New People

It is quite likely that you will make more friends if you live in a motorhome on a campsite as we suspect that such people tend to be more communicative than some of those living in traditional bricks and mortar properties.

So, if you are thinking of getting out of the rat race and living a different lifestyle then you may wish to consider motorhome living.
