If you are an owner of a motorhome or are intending to rent one in the coming weeks or months and were thinking of making a seaside trip to Lytham St Annes then you may find it of interest to read that Lancashire County Council has decided to ban the overnight parking of motorhomes on the promenades of both St Annes and Lytham possibly from as early as May 2024.

Presumably, such a move will be welcomed by residents in the vicinity of these promenades.

However, such news may come as a big disappointment to many seasoned motorhome holidaymakers who have previously enjoyed making an overnight stop-over on one of these promenades that no doubt provide a delightful location to pull over for a few hours and catch up on some much needed sleep.

Motorhome users will be unable to park on these promenades between 18.00 to 08.00 BST.

It will be interesting to see if this encourages owners of motorhomes to switch their overnight parking from on one of these promenades to other streets in the locality with such moves no doubt causing other residents to object.

It will also be of interest to see if this decision results in some motorhome owners deciding not to stay in the vicinity and find another overnight stopover many miles away thus having a negative impact on local trade. After all, some motorhome owners who had parked up overnight on one of these promenades may have bought food locally or may have decided to dine out at a popular restaurant.

There will be many motorhome owners who particularly like staying overnight by the sea as they love to hear the waves crashing on the shore and the sound of seagulls. They also like the opportunity to be able to just step out of their leisure vehicle and enjoy a stroll along the seafront before setting down for a peaceful night’s sleep.

It will be interesting to see if some other councils around the UK decide to ban the overnight parking of motorhomes on other promenades in some other seaside towns.
