Motorhome owners will probably have their favourite type of location in which they prefer to park up their motorhomes for the night. We mention some of these places below.

Some will prefer to base themselves on a campsite with all the frills such as immaculate toilets and showers, facilities to wash dishes, clothes and even dry them, electric hook ups, on-site bar, café, children’s play area and swimming pool. Basically, this is best described as luxury camping. Needless to say, the pitch fee is going to be quite a bit more than if you parked up for the night on a small campsite with basic toilet facilities.

Let’s not forget the sites offered by the Camping and Caravan Club. These are dotted around numerous parts of the UK and come in all shapes and sizes. They provide different sorts of facilities depending upon which one you decide to stay at. It is unlikely that you will be disappointed if you choose to stay at one of their campsites.

There may be an occasion when you really do not have any other choice than to spend the night in your motorhome in a layby. This could be because you have got severely delayed due to traffic problems and are just not going to be able to make it to your intended destination that evening. This is not really a problem as long as you are reasonably self-sufficient i.e. you have cooking facilities, a toilet, plenty of water and a battery that is fully charged so you can boil the kettle to make a hot brew.

There will be some motorhome owners who are drawn to the sea and are determined to park up for the night on the seafront. Whilst this sounds a lovely option, do make sure that you are permitted to park in such a spot. There will be some local councils who ban such parking or severely restrict it. There may be some councils who permit such overnight parking of motorhomes. We would suggest that you do your research before setting off on your much-needed break to avoid disappointment.
