Keeping a car on the road as well as a motorhome is a costly business so no motorist likes to hear that things relating to their vehicles are on the increase. What with fuel prices at petrol forecourts being high and the cost of servicing vehicles going up it would have been preferable that the likes of car insurance was not rising but it is based upon the Confused.com Car Insurance Price Index.

Whilst the above index refers to car insurance, it is more than likely that the cost of insuring a motorhome is going up. So, keep a close eye on your motorhome insurance renewal letter and compare how much you are currently paying with what you will be in the next few weeks. Unless you are very lucky, you are probably going to be asked to pay an awful lot more for your cover.

Why not take a look at the above index on the website of Confused.com. You will read that the average amount paid for car insurance in the UK in the second quarter of this year stands at £776 per annum compared to a year previously when the average premium was £554 per annum. That is a difference of an average of £222 per annum. – a large rise by anyone’s standards.

In the first quarter of 2023, the average car insurance premium was £657 per annum so in just three months the cost of insuring a car has gone up by an average of £119 per annum – that is almost an average of £10 per month.

If you happen to be 18 years of age then the average car insurance premium is just over £200 per month. One of the reasons for this is because young drivers are far more likely to be responsible for a road accident involving other vehicles. A more experienced driver of a mature age is less likely to be involved in such an accident.
