If you are the proud owner of a motorhome then you will need to keep it somewhere when it is not being used for a short break or a week or twos’ holiday. So, what sorts of options are potentially available to motorhome owners when it comes to storing their leisure vehicles?

Well, if you have a big enough drive then you may have the space to park it on the drive when not being used. At least it is close at hand should you decide on the spur of the moment because the weather is good to go away in it for the weekend. If it needs a clean both inside and out then it is close at hand. It is hopefully reasonably secure but we suggest that you perhaps make sure that it is lit up at night to detract the would-be motorhome thief.

If you don’t have the space available on your drive then what about leaving it on the road outside your home? That may be fine if you live in a cul-de-sac but if you live on a busy main road then that option is perhaps not to be recommended. You are probably more at risk of having the vehicle stolen or hit by a passing vehicle when it is parked on the road. Your motor insurance premium is also likely to be higher if the vehicle is parked on the road.

Whilst unlikely to fit, there may be a limited number of people who have a garage at their home that is long, wide and high enough to store a motorhome in. If it is out of sight then you are less likely to have it stolen.

It is worth bearing in mind that all the above options are not going to involve you in storage costs.

Another option but which would involve you in extra expense is to store the motorhome at a storage yard along with many other motorhomes. In this way, it is away from your home and hopefully will be kept very securely but this is something that you need to check.
