It is fast approaching the time of year when motorhome owners are thinking about where they intend to holiday in the summer. If you intend to chance getting sunny weather and stay on these shores to enjoy a few days break in the UK then you do not even need your passport but if you are travelling overseas then read on.
With COVID 19 restrictions so much easier these days more people are taking the plunge and intend to venture overseas in their motorhomes. This tends to mean that holidaymakers head for the likes of the ferry ports or Eurotunnel to make that journey over or underneath the English Channel. Popular destinations include the likes of France and Spain with some people deciding to go further afield to the likes of Italy.
In the lead up to your holiday there are numerous things that you will need to tick off your check list that you will either need to do or bring with you.
One of those things is your passport. Get it out of the drawer or wherever you happen to keep it and check very carefully when your passport expires. It must have an expiry date that shows it is valid for a minimum of 3 months after the date you plan to leave the country you are intending to visit. If not and you still want to travel to that particular country you will need to order a new passport,
The potential problem with this is that it can normally take up to about 11 weeks for your passport to be ready. You can apply via a speedier application process but it is presently proving difficult to book an appointment. In addition, there may well be a strike by passport workers on the horizon and this may result in delays in passports being issued.
If you are unsure if you will get your new passport in time then you may wish to consider holidaying in the UK and travel overseas on another occasion once you have a valid passport.
