This is a very interesting question and not an easy one to answer. You may well be aware that partly due to the pandemic quite a lot of people here in the UK decided to take breaks and holidays on the mainland rather than head for an airport to fly out to overseas destinations. This was because they perhaps did not want to increase the possibility of getting COVID-19 feeling more secure from a health perspective by staying in the UK.
As a result, there was an increased interest in taking a holiday or short break in a motorhome here in the UK. Some people will no doubt have chosen to rent a motorhome rather than go to the expense of buying a leisure vehicle but others will have taken the plunge and purchased such a vehicle. However, some of those who had tried out a motorhome by renting one may have subsequently decided to buy one.
One of the factors that affect the price of something is supply and demand. As a general rule, if there are fewer things to buy then the price of such things may increase. This applies to motorhomes. If there is a shortage of such vehicles to buy then the price of them may increase. That is the same whether it is a new or used motorhome that someone is considering purchasing.
So, the sale price of motorhomes has in the main been increasing in the last couple of years or so. Therefore, it could be argued that, with hindsight, it may have been better to have bought a motorhome a year or two ago.
Of course, we do not know what is going to happen to motorhome prices in the remainder of 2023 so it is difficult to answer the above question. Who knows if the difficult financial climate we are currently in here in the UK will mean that prices may fall. Ultimately, it is a decision that you will have to make yourselves. We hope that you make the correct one.
