Many businesses of different types have suffered due to the pandemic with some going out of business. It is interesting to hear that, according to the NCC (National Caravan Council), the DVLA had 16.608 new motorhomes registered with them covering the period 1st July 2020 to 30 June 2021. Apparently, from 1st July 2018 to 30 June 2019, there were 15,342 new motorhomes registered with the DVLA – that is a rise of 8.25%.

The record number of motorhomes and campervans sold in the UK has no doubt been partly attributable to the coronavirus. If you remember, there were significant travel restrictions put in place worldwide during the height of the pandemic with people not being allowed to travel abroad on holiday. There were also restrictions put in place in the UK that meant people were not even able to go on holiday within the UK. Many people in the UK were concerned as to when they would be able to board a plane to spend one or two weeks on a beach in the likes of Spain, France and other countries in the world. Therefore some decided to buy a motorhome or campervan and use it when they were allowed to go on holiday in the UK.

No doubt those people who have bought new motorhomes recently will have been enjoying taking their leisure vehicles on holiday in the UK whether it be for a weekend or a longer holiday. After all, there are so many beautiful parts of the UK to visit and stay on some well-equipped campsites. For instance, how about touring around the Yorkshire Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors, the Highlands of Scotland, the Brecon Beacons in Wales, the apple orchards of Kent, the coastal areas of Devon and Cornwall to name but a few locations.
