There are a lot of people who only use their motorhomes or campervans between Spring and Autumn so what sort of things should you consider when storing your leisure vehicle over the winter period?
If you are fortunate to be able to store the vehicle inside the likes of a garage then there is probably less to think of. For instance, hopefully you are unlikely to find that any water stored in the vehicle is frozen especially if the garage has some form of heating and you heat up the motorhome periodically. However, if like a lot of people, you have to store your vehicle outside then you should seriously consider draining all the water that is normally used in the vehicle.

You should make sure that any perishable foods are removed including from the fridge. You may wish to leave open the door of the fridge. You should consider removing the leisure battery. Seriously consider covering the upholstery so that dust does not build up. You should thoroughly clean out the motorhome to help reduce the possibility of vermin establishing a home in your vehicle. To avoid hinges getting rusty you may wish to apply silicone oil. Make sure that the motorhome is ventilated in some way. Leave the handbrake off and use chocks. Make sure that you have a full tank of fuel. You may want to put a suitable cover over the vehicle. Periodically, you may want to take the vehicle out for a short journey.

Hopefully, by taking suitable precautions, when you come to use your motorhome for the first time after the winter period you will not have any problems.
