It is interesting to read that, according to the MoneySuperMarket.com car insurance price index, the average cost of fully comprehensive car insurance appears to have almost leveled off in the second quarter of 2021. Is this something that may have also happened with motorhome insurance?

According to the above index, the average cost of comprehensive car insurance was only 7p per month more in the second quarter of 2021 when compared with the first quarter of 2021. The average premium was £417 per annum.

Apparently, average premiums for such cover are more than £60 per annum cheaper in the second quarter of 2021 in comparison to the second quarter of 2020. We are sure that you will agree that is a significant difference and will be welcomed by many motorists. It would be great if a similar pattern has been seen with the cost of motorhome insurance.

A significant factor in how much you pay for motor insurance is where you live in the UK. In the second quarter of 2021, the most expensive region for fully comprehensive car insurance was East London with the average cost of such cover being £840 per annum. The cheapest regions in the UK for such cover were Llandrindod Wells and Kirkwall on Orkney with motorists being charged an average of £256 per annum. As you can see, that is a huge variance.

A motorist’s age also has a significant impact on premiums. On average, those aged between 20 to 24 paid the most for their cover at £839 per annum. Those aged 17 to 19 paid an average of £454 per annum. Motorists who are over 65 years of age, on average, pay the least – £253 per annum.

It is to be hoped that motorists see premiums come down in the coming months both for insuring their family cars as well as their motorhomes and campervans. We will continue to keep our readers updated in this respect.
