If you are considering buying a new or used motorhome there are a number of places that you can look for one – much the same as if you were intending to buy a second hand or new car.

Dealer

There are a number of dealers around the UK where you can purchase either a new or second hand motorhome. Some dealers may just sell new vehicles and some may specialise in selling used ones. Dealers will often have a selection of motorhomes that you can look around and take out for a test drive.

There is a lot to be said for buying from a well-known dealer. For instance, a new or used motorhome may come with some form of warranty. If you have a problem with the motorhome whether it is still within the warranty period or it has ended you should still be able to take the vehicle back to the dealer for any remedial work to be carried out. You can probably arrange for it to be regularly serviced at the dealership.

Whether it is a new or used motorhome, the dealer may be able to assist you in obtaining in-house finance towards purchasing the motorhome.

If you are buying a used motorhome from a dealer then you can usually expect to pay more for it than if you bought it from a private individual.

Private Purchase

It is possible to buy a used motorhome in a private purchase from an individual. However, if there are any problems with the vehicle you will usually have little if any comeback on the person that sold it to you that you may have if you bought it from a dealer.

It is quite possible that you will pay less for a used motorhome when buying from an individual than if you bought it from a dealer.

Online Purchase

There are an awful lot of motorhomes that are advertised for sale on a number of motor websites. It is usually quick and easy to peruse these and arrange a viewing of the motorhome at a mutually convenient date and time. There are often lots of photographs to view of both the exterior and interior of the motorhome you are considering buying.

Show purchase

You could attend a motorhome show where you will probably find one or more dealers selling motorhomes. You can probably look around one or more vehicles at the show as part of your due diligence.

Remember, this is likely to involve a significant cost on your part so make sure that you take your time before committing to the purchase of a new or used motorhome.
