Whilst motorhome owners are unable to enjoy a welcome break at the moment in their leisure vehicle due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will no doubt come a point in the future when he or she will be able to do so. Unfortunately, at the moment, no one knows with any certainty when that will be.

However, by the time you do get the all clear to go out and about in your motorhome, will the warm summer be over and is it possible to take to the road and enjoy a much needed holiday say in the autumn or winter? In many cases, the answer is a definite “yes”.

Nowadays, new or even many older motorhomes are suitably equipped to ensure that you can go away for a short break or a couple of weeks holiday in the coldest of weather or when it is raining almost non-stop.

Modern motorhomes usually come well-equipped with a good heating system that should keep you warm at any time of the year even in below freezing temperatures when snow may also be on the ground. Rainy weather is merely an inconvenience and should not stop you from getting on board your leisure vehicle and making for the coast or beautiful countryside. Make sure that you have a winter duvet with you to snuggle under during the night.

If your motorhome has a well-equipped shower room with a toilet then you don’t have to worry about having to make a trip to the shower/toilet facilities on the campsite you are staying at in the middle of the night in the pouring rain or freezing cold weather. In addition, you will hopefully have somewhere that you can dry any wet coats that you have been wearing whilst out and about.

Obviously, when driving your motorhome in inclement weather, you will need to take into account the weather conditions and keep your distance behind vehicles in front of you and allow a greater stopping time. You will also need to make sure that the radiator is topped up with anti-freeze so that you do not encounter any problems when driving in very cold weather. You should make sure that your motorhome has been suitably serviced to reduce the possibility of any mechanical failure whilst enjoying your break. Just in case you wake up to several inches of snow, you may wish to bring a spade with you.

In summary, as long as your motorhome has suitable heating and is well maintained and appropriately equipped, you should be able to enjoy a holiday any time of the year.
