It is that time of year when people are planning a family holiday in their campervan or motorhome. Whether you are going to be holidaying in the UK or abroad there are some things that you will need to bring with you. The following list is an example of some of the items that you either will or may need.
It is worth mentioning that neither a campervan or motorhome is particularly large and has limited storage space so you will need to think carefully about every item that you are considering bringing with you. Is it really necessary?
Clothing
You will obviously need spare clothes but do not go over the top and take your whole wardrobe with you. After all, if you are staying on a campsite many of them have washing, drying and ironing facilities so you can always make use of them. Don’t forget to bring the swimwear if you intend to spend time on the beach. Also, make sure that you have a waterproof coat with you especially if you are touring the UK as our weather can be changeable. Suitable footwear is also a must.
Don’t forget towels.
Bedding
Make sure that you have clean sheets, pillows, blankets and duvets or alternatively use a good quality sleeping bag that should save you some space.
First aid kit
Don’t forget this as you never know when the unfortunate may happen such as one of your children cutting their finger requiring ointment and a plaster/bandage. Ibuprofen and paracetamol would be useful to have on hand if needed.
You may also wish to bring sun tan lotion.
Cooking equipment
You will need cutlery, kettle, mugs, pans (don’t forget the frying pan for those bacon sandwiches for breakfast0, bread knife, washing up liquid and cloths.
Make sure that you have an adequate supply of gas for your cooker.
Food
A lot of people tend to buy things on a daily basis such as milk, bread, bacon, sausages, eggs and items that you will need to produce a family meal.
Items like tea bags, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, cereals, dried pasta and olive oil you will no doubt keep stocked up.
There will no doubt be occasions when you will have a pub meal.
Toiletries
Don’t forget items like liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toilet rolls, deodorant, hair spray, hair brush, small mirror, insect repellent and other personal toiletries.
Camping equipment
You may wish to consider bringing the likes of a portable barbeque, collapsible chairs, wind break, hook up cable, torch, tools, bucket and leveling ramps.
Personal effects
If you are travelling abroad you will need things like passports, money, suitable campervan/motorhome insurance and breakdown cover.
You may wish to bring with you books, camera, games and iPads plus don’t forget your mobile phones.
We hope that the above proves of benefit and hope that you have an enjoyable holiday in your campervan or motorhome.
